Gonna try and keep up this Mega-Thread for the whole year, NHL Hockey is where my bread is buttered each year (hopefully), so let's start things right with a W on night 1.

Vegas Golden Knights @ Los Angelos Kings

I’m pretty high on Vegas coming into this season; I like Bruce Cassidy a lot behind the bench, I’m clearly betting on Jack Eichel to have a monster season, and while there are concerns about the depth, I think that’s why Cassidy is such a brilliant signing. His defensive system limits offensive chances with the best of them, and I think they’ll have enough going forward to take advantage of most teams.
Moreover, I’m not as high as others seem to be on the LA Kings heading into this season, and a lot of that has to do with my doubts that Fiala is capable of being a bonafide star going forward. First and foremost, I’m thinking the fact he got to play against 2nd pairing a lot of the time last year (because of Kaprizov’s brilliance) had a lot to do with his career year. Beyond that though, I think it’s just asking a lot out of Kempe and Fiala to replicate/build on career years where scoring was up universally around the league.
Lastly, I think there’s some value to be had on these opening night games taking road teams —- I struggle to see how home ice is as advantageous on nights like tonight (where neither team has traveled, neither team has a real routine as of yet) as it would be on a sleepy January evening. So when I put all these factors into perspective I find some value in taking the Knights on the ML so long as we’ve got a (+) sign with it.
